FAQ

Psychotherapy is a process in which a client works in close collaboration with a mental health practitioner to reduce distressing emotional experiences (i.e. depression, anxiety), change behaviors, and improve relationships, work, and other life activities.  The structure of therapy varies significantly according to the needs of the client, and the particular difficulty being treated. A standard therapy "hour" is 50 minutes. If you are interested in treatment or have questions, I am happy to schedule an introductory conversation with you in person or by telephone.

Insurance and Payment:

My current rates for therapy are comparable to other licensed professionals in the Bay Area. I am committed to making psychotherapy affordable even without insurance, so please let's discuss a fee that works for you and me both. I accept cash, check, or credit cards. I work with other insurance panels as an out of network provider, and can offer you billing paperwork to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.   Many private plans do provide significant out-of-network benefits, which may reimburse you 50-100% of the cost of therapy. If you are unclear about your insurance policy, I will be happy to help you find out what mental health services are covered. Fees you pay for therapy services that are not reimbursed by insurance may be deductible as medical expenses if you itemize deductions on your tax return.
