My approach:

My approach with clients is both empathetic and collaborative. You are the expert on your life - my role is to help guide. My goal is to understand you as a person, while integrating an interdisciplinary knowledge of psychology, human development, and the mind-body relationship. I will strive to help you develop the insights and tools necessary to overcome whatever difficulties you experience.

Empirically-validated practice:

Dr. Edelson follows a therapeutic practice that is based in the most up-to-date and advanced psychological research in order to provide the highest quality, evidence-based treatments. She customizes her work to meet individual specific needs and goals. Generally, her techniques are solidly based in cognitive-behavioral therapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy, and mindfulness-based therapy (i.e. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT.) The aim of these treatments is to help people create a rich full and meaningful life, while effectively handling the pain and stress that life inevitably brings. To do this, she uses active, problem-solving, present-oriented, and collaborative approach in working with clients, always using a person's background and history as a backdrop for the work. Dr. Edelson has worked, and does work, with adults, couples, teens and pre-teens.
